Student Stories

Going back to school after many years was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I was overwhelmed with everyday life and often thought about quitting. But deep down, I knew I had a purpose and a promise to keep. I could only take one class every eight weeks while working and managing responsibilities, but I stayed focused. My family believed in me even when I struggled to believe in myself. With faith, determination, and hard work, I pushed through every challenge. I passed every class with an A. This moment proves that it is never too late to go back to school and earn your degree. The sky is the limit.
I sought this degree to prove to myself and my kids that anything is possible and to show them the value of perseverance. I was determined to break generational barriers and create a brighter path forward. The late nights, long hours, and sacrifices were worth it—not just for the achievement, but to demonstrate that women in tech ARE the future and that resilience can overcome obstacles. My husband, Ryan, and our kids were my constant motivation and guiding light, reminding me of my purpose when challenges felt overwhelming. This milestone is not only a personal victory, but also a message to my family and others: with determination, hard work, and support, the future can be rewritten.
Earning my degree in Information Systems at UA Grantham has been both a personal and professional milestone. Balancing full-time work and parenthood required dedication and focus. I earned this degree to open more opportunities for my family and to show my daughter what perseverance can achieve. I am proud to be the first of my siblings to accomplish this goal while expanding my knowledge, building networks, and stretching my skills to reach new heights.
