For me, this is the biggest accomplishment by far in my life. I was a high school drop out at 16 years of age, although I did later go and get my GED the same year. I still felt like a failure and not quite smart enough. ... My husband and children pushed me to finally take some time to do something for myself, and my first thought was I want more, I want to learn, and I want to believe in myself, and here I am graduating with my Associate of Applied Science in Medical Coding and Billing. I could not be happier! Thank you, to everyone who supported me along the way and UA Grantham for this amazing opportunity.

Earning my degree has been a journey of determination and growth. Balancing my studies, while working as a CNA in a nursing home was no small feat, but my passion for healthcare and commitment to personal growth kept me motivated. ... One piece of advice that resonated deeply was, “The obstacles you face today are the foundation for your success tomorrow.” That wisdom fueled me to persevere, and today, I stand proud knowing my resilience has paved the way for a brighter future in healthcare.

The pandemic changed everything. Suddenly, I was jobless, struggling, and sleeping on a friend's couch. It was a dark time, tired of feeling helpless but it also became a turning point. So, I went back to school. It was a challenge, but I'm incredibly proud to have earned my associate degree, my Certified Billing and Coding Specialist certification, and my BLS and Heartsaver certifications. This journey has been about more than just a degree; it's been about finding my strength and building a brighter future.
